One Swoop Fell by Mike Dutton
This comic is just hands down well done. It’s art style is top-notch, and I’m certain it will get recognition for it in the future, and the writing and characters are very cute and endearing and I feel lighthearted enough that Dutton could easily parlay this into a fun read for kids.
Honestly the art and vision that goes into the story reminded me a lot of another fantastic comic that has a load of imagination put in it : Copper
One Swoop Fell is made by Mike Dutton and releases every new strips weekly on Wednesdays. While the comic is pretty new and only started in July of 2008, there are two solid main characters emerging in the story. Swoop is a little flightless bird that falls from a tree to meet his new buddy, Topo. So far the two have pretty much just been cruising around the town of Oaks Peak (an excellent comicy cartoonish rendition of San Francisco)- eating sushi and trying to figure out how to climb up the massive tree Swoop fell out of.
However, in a read though the short archives you can tell there is an ambitious story to be told with villains and comic mischief a foot. Definitely, take the time and catch up on this strip, it should be one of the greats and certainly weaving a story that should be fun to read for I hope many years to come.
