It's called the Reinheitsgebot - and I guess it pays to do a little fact checking on our parts, but it is no longer law! It was repealed in 1988! Some brews still label that they are compliant, but it is for mostly marketing purposes. I have heard that real German schnapps is amazing. It isn't like the schnapps in the states - all sugar and spice - it's like serious manly firewater. I’ve always found that beer laws fascinating. There's a myriad types of beer here and they are all mostly good. I'm a heffeweisen fan, and the hellas is good, too. However, there's an Irish pub serves Guinness and I do like Guinness, too.
