Binder was one of the chief donors to founding the Popkin High School and was its first dean. However, after many years of service, Binder felt he would rather return to teaching and took to overseeing the English Department. Binder was known by his students for making long-winded and usually off-topic presentations about conspiracy theories, crypto-zoology, quantum physics, genetics, the occult, Scoville-based botany, & mythology. He was known around campus for being a very private man who kept to his classroom – many of his co-workers said his isolation was due to vocally speaking out many times against school administration’s much looser approach and removal of rules and regulations he’d established as the school’s first dean.
Students considered Binder’s class to be incredibly challenging, and had the reputation of being impossible to prepare for his tests and quizzes.
